Security & safety

Safety is the foundation of aviation — and it must evolve alongside the industry.

European aviation has one of the strongest safety records of any transport mode, and A4E members are committed to continuously improving it. A4E works with regulators and industry partners to ensure that evolving technologies — from AI-assisted operations to drones of all sizes — are integrated safely and harmoniously into existing aviation frameworks.

A4E also works with EU institutions, member states and aviation stakeholders to continuously improve existing processes and regulations, ensuring they remain efficient, as well as evidence and risk-based, keeping pace with a rapidly evolving industry.

A harmonised, coordinated approach to deploying new technology is essential. A4E advocates for equal access to data across all aviation stakeholders, proper transposition of manned aviation safety culture to unmanned systems, and clear accountability frameworks for new airspace users. Safety investment should also be shared fairly across the entire ecosystem.
